Cambags is back: the camera bag review site returns after eight years offline

On 25 September 2026, Cambags came back online after eight years away. The site started life as a small community where photographers shared how they really carried their cameras, and by the time it went quiet in 2018 it had built up a large library of owner reviews and packing photographs. That archive has now been restored and the site rebuilt from the ground up.

Everything that made the original Cambags useful is back. The catalogue covers 1,948 camera bags from 66 brands, alongside 994 owner reviews and 14,343 photographs, including more than 4,000 shared by owners with their reviews. Archive contributions keep their original author names and dates and are clearly labelled, so you can still read what owners thought of long-serving favourites such as the Lowepro Mini Trekker and the Billingham 550.

The new Cambags is faster, works properly on phones and tablets, and makes it easier to find the right bag. You can search the catalogue and filter it by brand, bag type, capacity and availability, or by the camera you own. Every bag page lists interior and exterior dimensions, weight and what fits inside, and you can compare bags side by side or save favourites for later. A new camera size guide lists 555 camera bodies from the smallest compact to the largest professional body, grouped by the space each one needs in a bag.

The community is still the heart of Cambags, and reviews are open again. Create a free account to write a review, rate a bag for comfort, features, build and price, list the kit you carry and upload your own packing photographs. New contributions are checked before they appear, and Cambags remains independent: affiliate links never decide ratings, catalogue inclusion or moderation.

Cambags now covers camera bag news too, with new releases from manufacturers and stories from around the photography press, and new bags are being added to the catalogue as they launch.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the original site. Whether you remember Cambags from the first time around or you are discovering it for the first time, welcome. We would love to hear how you carry your gear.
