Billingham Hadley Large Pro

A long-awaited addition to the increasingly popular Hadley range, the sage Fibrenyte and chocolate leather Hadley Large Pro Shoulder Bag from Billingham fits your laptop and DSLR with lenses and accessories into one main compartment. The grab handle at the top is further integrated into load points on the bag at the rear by a horizontal leather strap. This is to add security and strength when laden with a laptop and heavy camera equipment. The entire insert is removable just like the rest of the Hadley bags. Although, compared to the other Hadley bags, this one has a thicker base of foam and the laptop space is fixed. A carry handle was at the top of our list, together with extra storage capability, creating a camera bag that could double up as a work bag. The design, along with the rest of the Hadley range, proved to be a resounding success. So, we reasoned, a larger Hadley Pro would be a useful addition to the range and set about re-thinking the Hadley Pro concept from first principles. As you would expect, we gave a lot of consideration to what equipment the bag might be expected to carry and how it could best be protected - the additional weight the bag would need to carry producing some fundamental changes to the design. The result is a multi-purpose bag, about the same size as the Hadley Large, with many of the features of the smaller Hadley Pro. We have added considerable additional space to the interior, increasing the depth to provide room for more, and larger, kit without sacrificing the slim appearance that characterises the Hadley design. There is more than enough space to carry a large SLR camera and lenses in the padded insert in which we increased the thickness of the impact absorbing foam over the standard Pro model to cater for additional and/or bigger equipment. We also added a thin, full width open pocket that sits just behind the insert. This will accommodate a 15” laptop. The insert includes two vertical VelcroR touch fastener dividers that are used to separate and protect your gear. The angled centre panels creates a central 'cone' space when two dividers are placed facing each other - perfect for a snug fit for camera and lens. If more space is needed the Hadley Large Pro is compatible with our AVEA pockets. They fasten to the bag using re-designed side patches, which are larger and allow for more hand room when fitting the pockets, yet still provide a snug attachment. The insert and camera gear can also be removed as one, giving you a voluminous work bag or briefcase. Or even a small weekend bag. Simply undo the two press studs, take out the insert and you’re ready to go. We have made significant changes to the outside of the bag as well. A grab handle made from thick leather with the same press studded design cues you find on our other models is riveted to a strong webbing strap with leather tabs that combine with the solid brass buckle fixings to keep the bag firmly closed against the elements. An integral wide webbing sling has been incorporated into the side patches, giving over the shoulder or across the body carrying options. Beneath the top flap are two large front ‘dump’ pockets that can be expanded when required by releasing two press stud fixings, to take more gear. A large zipped pocket with rain flap to the rear of the bag will accommodate A4 size documents, among other things. The back of the bag also has a full width leather reinforcement panel to provide additional support and help the bag maintain its contours.
