kit lens attached into the bag and even the hood can be left on. With the hood however the Velcro closure does not overlap totally and the band of the plastic clip needs to be released quite a bit but it works. However with or without the hood the fit is very tight and thus the bag isn’t usable to quickly take out the camera, taking a picture, and drop it back in, something that I was looking for. The bag can easily hold memory cards and spare batteries as well as a mini-tripod. The manual and charger however don’t have room. Main compartment (what I measured): 4.75” wide, 3.75” deep, 7” high

In the bag

he bag looks great, comes in a variety of colors, doesn’t look like a camera bag and looks hip. The material as well as the craftsmanship is of high quality. The bag closes via a plastic clip and a large Velcro pad. The bag is nicely stiff and the padding is great thus giving the feel that your equipment is protected. Unfortunately it’s very tight for the Nikon D70 . The camera fits with the Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF-S DX nikon d70

In the second third pics you can see how I've put the divider, I can also put a few extra bits pieces down the side (the lens hood if its off for example). In the front pocket is a spare battery, CF card, blower etc. I've also stuck a bit of extra foam at the bottom to provide a 'softer' base for the bottom of the lens - probably not required but I put it there anyway (makes me feel safer). Next time i'd probably get the next size up since the D70 won't fit in this bag with a bigger/longer lens or with a tripod plate attached - but it does fit perfectly and is a nice small bag. The Crumpler bags are very well made and extremely 'solid'. All the walls are quite thickly padded and I'd say that you could throw this bag around with the camera in it and have no problems whatsoever (no I'm not going to test it though!).

I have a Crumpler Stamp Claimer which I originally bought for my Coolpix 4500 accessories - it just fits the Nikon D70 with the kit lens hood attached... It also fits the D70 with a Nikon 70-210mm f/4.5-5.6 lens attached, although this is about the max lens lenght it will fit (the 70-210 is about 11cm long when attached). nikon d70
