What I like: - doesn't look like a camera bag and it's decent looking. It does require some times to 'break' in. - pretty comfortable to carry but i won't carry it for long trip. - roomy and very useable space. I think I can fit a D70 with 70-200mm VR f/2.8 attached but I will have to remove the dividers. - very configurable since the padding of the main compartment can be removed and reconfigured. For trip, I think I may just leave the big one there and remove the smaller one so I can fit a dv cam - side pocket is huge! It can fit a D70 body in there! (So, if you want you can fit a small lens (kit lens for example) with the flash on the side pocket. - the handle above the main compartment. What can be improved: - not enough smaller zip pockets - not enough velcro to secure the opening (it can be fixed easily) I think they designed that way so that it won't make a lot of noise when you open the main compartment. - the metal 'lock' of the main compartment. I just worry sometimes it's going to hit my lens! =) - no third leg - no tripod loop

I had not heard of Domke until stumbling upon POTN and this bag has made me a big fan of what their bags are about. I don\'t know how, but it seems to take a ton of gear and still be easy to carry and look very inconspicuous. On to the review... Here it is packed with a ton of stuff and also unpacked with everything that was just in it on the table. Originally, I was looking for a bag with a single set up for my 40D with 70-200 f/4L IS mounted and some room to carry a couple of other lenses, a charger, 580EX II, some extra memory and batteries. As I started to pack it, I realized that I could put my other 40D with 17-85 f/2.8 IS mounted right next to other body and zoom. It fits perfectly. Not too tight and not too loose. The 40D with 70-200 f/4 is in the large single insert, the 85 f/1.8 is in one side of the double insert and the 40D with 17-85 f/2.8 is in the other half. Speedlights with Omnibounce Diffusers are in one side. 17-85 hood is in the other (70-200 and 85 hood are inverted on their respective lens). Charger and wired remote are in the front pocket. Batteries, lens pen, extra filter, memory are in the inside of the top flap.

This is a standard F-4AF Domke bag except with a homemade insert which is designed to fit the Canon 40D kit that I have. Due to the limited space the bag has, a narrow B+W 960 67mm hood is used on the 70-200/4L IS instead of the Canon hood. One EW hood is being stored in the side pocket when travel. The other EW hood would be on the lens being attached to the 40D. Assorted accessories like batteries, CF and rubber blowers would be put in another side pocket.

The standard first reaction to a Domke bag is, "I thought it'd be bigger." And that's usually fine since a working bag doesn't need the bulk and padding found in most bags. However, the Domke F-4AF seems to have been mis-measured, most severely in its depth, which is closer to nine inches, not the 11 stated in Domke's brochure and website. This put a damper on my plans of having a bag to carry around my Canon with a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS attached. The cover will close, but it's a tight fit. As a working bag it would probably do fine - get out to the job and the camera will be around you neck and there's enough room in the bag to carry the lenses. But already owning an F-6, it was just too similar in capacity to justify keeping it. More than likely I will look to the F-804, trusting that it's specified 12 inch depth is indeed 12 inches.

Packing some gear for a trip to Hawaii. I didn't want to lug a backpack so I picked up a used Domke shoulder bag off eBay. Manufacturer's specs claim it can accommodate two 35mm SLRs + 4-6 large zoom lenses+ Flash -OR- 6x6/6x4.5cm SLR + 3 Lenses + 3 Film backs. Sheah right. I had to bust out the mad organizer skills to fit in that Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM.
