The Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Black) can be used as a camera bag, or remove the Gripper shoulder strap and thread it through the belt loop for an instant waist/hip pack. The bag can hold an SLR or rangefinder camera, one or two lenses, filters, film and accessories. I was looking for a small bag to take on vacations, specifically something that I could insert into my under-seat carry-on bag to reduce the amount of luggage I have to wrangle onto the plane. The Domke F-5xb is the perfect size for this and allows me to bring SLR gear I normally would have left at home in the interest of travelling light. The front pocket so far only holds a pen and some other flat items, though not my extra memory cards since I prefer to keep them in the bag. I don't really expect to hold much in there. Given the size, some might be concerned the F-5xb looks too much like a purse. Get the olive color and that might help the situation.

This is my most minimalistic Domke for casual situations which require one DSLR body with a lens mounted to it (with hood) + a full size flash. To this regard, it doesn't get any more portable than the Domke F-5XB. This bag consists of interior padding with 2 dividers of which I use one (to separate the lens hood from the flash). I intend to use this as a walk-around bag for those times when I need just one lens. It's inconspicuous and light.

What works

Solid construction: metal shoulder-strap fittings, tough canvas construction, sturdy yet flexible shoulder strap. Plastic zipper with metal fasteners: plastic minimizes damage to gear inside. Supplied name tag. Belt mountable design. Lightweight and portable. Non-slip gripper strap. One exterior & one interior slim compartment in addition to the main compartment.

Room for improvement

Noisy velcro closure on the front flap (I'm thinking of removing the velcro). Domke logo on the front flap: Difficult to remove as it's close-stitched.
